Drupal Module 4.2.3 and 4.2.4: A Fresh Toggle on Your Search Page, and AI Hints That Read Your Full Content
Two releases of the Opensolr Search module for Drupal: a Fresh control your visitors can use to favour recent content, and a fix to AI Hints, which until now was answering from almost no material.
01 The Fresh control
Visitors get a Fresh control beside the sort controls on your search page. Turning it on pushes recent content up the ranking. Nothing older is hidden — it is a ranking preference, not a filter.
In 4.2.3 this arrived as a toggle. In 4.2.4 it became a plain on/off switch sitting with the rest of the search controls: it reads at a glance whether newer results are being favoured, and it is a far easier target on a phone. How it ranks has not changed between the two releases.
02 AI Hints reads your content
AI Hints was only ever shown the short teaser lines already on screen, and on many sites nothing at all, so it was answering from almost no material. It now reads the full text of the most relevant matches straight from your index — PDFs and Office documents included.
Answers are also longer and better structured, and identical to what the hosted Opensolr search page produces.
