An Opensolr Index runs on a set of Solr configuration files: schema.xml, solrconfig.xml and the files they reference, such as word lists and extra field definitions. There are three ways to put them on the index.
01 · A whole set: one ZIP
A ZIP upload saves every file first and reloads the index once, at the end.
For a complete configuration, for example one exported from another Solr server or generated by a CMS module, put every file in one ZIP and use Upload Config Zip in the Configuration tab. The files reference each other, and because they are all saved before the single reload, the order inside the archive does not matter. Steps: upload a ZIP.
02 · One file: the editor
To change one file, open it under Edit Config File in the same tab and save. Saving reloads the index, so the change is live at once, or the editor shows the error and the index keeps its previous configuration. Steps: edit a file.
03 · From your own code: the API
Upload a ZIP with API: Upload Solr configuration via ZIP archive, or a single file with API: Upload or update configuration file.
04 · Before you upload
Check that every file the schema references is in the set: extra field types, synonyms, stop words.
When the field definitions change, empty the index with Reset and send your data again: documents indexed under the old schema do not match the new one.
An upload that fails tells you why: configuration upload errors.
