01 · Start on the free plan
Registration is free at opensolr.com/register, with no credit card, and the free plan does not expire. If your evaluation needs more room than the free plan allows, write to support@opensolr.com with your account email and we set up extended evaluation allowances, so your team can build and validate the complete architecture on real usage.
02 · Pricing from public units
Everything is priced monthly, from the same units as the pricing page:
Opensolr Index: EUR 10 per index, per month
Disk space: EUR 1 per 0.1 GB, per month
Search traffic: EUR 0.50 per GB, per month
Volume discount: past a set amount of indexes, disk or traffic, the units above it cost 25% less. The pricing page includes it in the price it shows. More: What a plan is made of.
03 · AI requests
Every plan includes 500 AI requests a month. A larger monthly allowance is an add-on; it resets each calendar month and unused requests do not roll over. What counts as a request: API Quota.

Beyond the largest allowance, AI runs on dedicated capacity: a GPU environment reserved for your account, with its own rate limits. On shared capacity, the standard limits are 120 requests a minute and 1,200 requests an hour per account.
04 · Prepayment discounts
15% off with yearly prepayment, the same yearly discount as on the pricing page. Custom quotes can also be prepaid quarterly, at a smaller discount.
05 · Shared cloud or dedicated cluster
The shared cloud is where evaluations and most production workloads run, and where we recommend starting. When production traffic calls for it, the step up is a Resilient Dedicated Cluster: dedicated servers arranged as a load balancer, a write-only master and read-only replicas, with a custom SLA, and resources and AI billed at the same unit prices. Your real usage during the evaluation tells us how large it should be and how many replicas it needs. Moving from shared to dedicated needs no change of architecture on your side: Opensolr Enterprise.
06 · Service levels
The uptime of each shared plan is shown on its card on the pricing page, and the Terms and Conditions set the rest. Included support covers the platform itself: account, connectivity, billing and general guidance. Solr engineering, such as schema work, query tuning and custom configuration, is paid consultancy. Formal custom SLAs and guaranteed response times belong to the dedicated-cluster tier.
07 · Vendor reviews and security documents
Our security posture, infrastructure practices and compliance information are in the Security and Trust Center. Security questionnaires and vendor accreditation documents are completed as part of a production agreement.
08 · How we work during an evaluation
We are glad to schedule a short introductory call of 30 to 45 minutes, kept at the architecture level: your topics, the recommended path through the evaluation, and next steps. For technical depth, written documentation is the better medium, available to your whole team in the documentation.
09 · Regions with AI and hybrid search
Semantic and hybrid search run in the regions with site search: Solr 9.00 to 10.00; with Solr 10.00: New York (US-EAST). Create your indexes there if you plan to use vector or hybrid search: Regions. If your deployment needs a different region, contact us.
