Hosted Search Page: Query Elevation Controls Restored, Results Count Moved Under the Search Bar
Two changes to the hosted search page: the Query Elevation controls are back and now act instantly, and the results count has moved to where you actually look for it.
01 Query Elevation controls restored
The Query Elevation controls were not appearing on the hosted search page. The cause was in token-based authentication, which now accounts for the time the visitor spends on CAPTCHA verification.
02 Elevation changes now take effect immediately
Toggling an elevation setting used to take up to ten minutes to show, because of caching. Changes now apply straight away, so you can pin, exclude or boost a result and check it on the next search.
Controls missing on the hosted page, and toggles took up to 10 minutes to appear in results.
Controls present, and every toggle takes effect on the very next search.
03 Results count and response time
The results count now appears directly below the search bar, where the eye already is after typing, giving immediate feedback on how much the query matched. The response time is shown in seconds — for example 0.09 s — instead of milliseconds.
