Search by Image: “Picture Meaning” Link After OCR, and Full-Size Result Thumbnails
Two additions to the hosted search page. When search by image reads text off your photo, a single picture meaning link re-runs the search on what the picture shows instead. And result thumbnails now grow on hover and open at full size in the same viewer as the searched picture, with the page title linked underneath.
01 Picture meaning
When a photo is mostly text, search by image reads it and searches for what it read, which is exactly right for a shelf tag or a part label. It is the wrong call when the writing on the picture is not the thing you meant: a wine label, a poster, a book cover. The note under the search box now ends with a link. One click, and the same picture is searched by what it shows.
02 Result thumbnails
- Hover grows the thumbnail a little, in place, without pushing the row around.
- Click opens the picture at its own size in the same viewer that shows your searched image, with the result title as a link to the page underneath.
- A thumbnail that failed to load keeps its normal link to the page, as before.
