Fresh Mode Becomes a 2 to 365 Day Date Window, Plus a Bigger Mobile Clear Button and an Autocomplete Highlight Fix

· Search · Improvement · All updates

Fresh mode has been rebuilt as a filter rather than a boost, so recent-but-irrelevant results stop crowding out the good ones. Two smaller search interface fixes ship with it.

01 Fresh mode is now a date window

Search Tuning now lets you set a Freshness Window of 2 to 365 days. When "Fresh" mode is selected, only content published within that window is returned. The old boost-factor approach, which could surface off-topic content simply because it was recent, is replaced by a clean date range filter.

Before

A boost factor. Recent but off-topic content could be lifted above the most relevant results.

After

A date range filter with a window you choose, from 2 to 365 days. Anything outside the window is not returned.

02 A bigger clear button on mobile

The search clear button is now larger and more tappable on mobile. The button itself is bigger, it has a generous tap target with padding around it, and it shows a visual press animation on touch. Clearing a query is easier on any device.

03 Autocomplete no longer highlights stopwords

Autocomplete was highlighting short stopwords such as "e", "a" and "i" inside suggestions. Highlighting now only applies to query terms that are three characters or longer.
