Opensolr Is Now Free Forever — the Free Plan No Longer Expires
Opensolr is free. Not free for fifteen days — free, with no end date. Every registered account now sits on a permanent free plan: a fully managed Opensolr Index, the complete Solr API, and our WordPress and Drupal plugins, for as long as you care to use them. No card, no countdown, nothing to cancel.
01 The countdown is gone
Until now, registering started a 15-day clock. When it ran out the account was switched off and the indexes went dark unless a plan was bought. That clock no longer exists. There is no expiry date on a free account, and nothing on the platform is counting down.
Register, build for 15 days, then the account is deactivated and the indexes go offline until a plan is purchased.
Register and keep it. The free plan has no expiry date. Use your index and it stays online, indefinitely.
02 What the free plan includes
These are the live limits on the free plan, read straight from the account package as you read this page:

Outgrow any of it and the paid plans are there. Nothing pushes you towards them and nothing stops working if you stay.
03 Keeping your index
The plan never expires, but an index nobody touches can still be cleaned up. This is the only rule that can cost you an index, so it is worth knowing exactly what it says.
- What counts as activity. Logging in, adding or changing documents, changing your index configuration, or running a search or API request against it. Any one of them is enough.
- What triggers a cleanup. None of the above for 30 consecutive days, under section 9.2 of the Terms.
- You get a warning first. One email per index, before anything happens. Use the index and the warning resets.
Existing paid plans are unaffected: same resources, same price, same billing. This changes what happens at the free end of the range, nothing else.
