Opensolr Teams Management

Collaborate on Your Opensolr Indexes

Opensolr Teams lets you invite team members to manage your Opensolr Indexes together. Share access with developers, DevOps engineers, content managers, or anyone who needs to work with your search infrastructure — without sharing your personal account credentials.

Why Use Teams?

Working on search alone is fine when you are just getting started. But as your project grows, you need to share access:

  • Developers need to tweak the schema, upload config files, and test queries
  • DevOps needs to monitor index health, manage backups, and handle scaling
  • Agencies and freelancers need temporary access to client indexes
  • Content teams need to re-index content and check search results
  • Multiple projects with different team members need isolated access

Without Teams, you would have to share your personal Opensolr login — which gives access to all your indexes, billing, and account settings. Teams lets you share access to specific indexes without exposing anything else.

How to Set Up Teams

Step 1: Go to Team Management

Log in to your Opensolr Dashboard and navigate to Teams in the menu.

Step 2: Invite a Team Member

Click Invite Member and enter the email address of the person you want to invite. They must have a valid Opensolr account (free, paid, or even expired — any registered account works).

Step 3: Assign Indexes

Select which Opensolr Indexes this team member should have access to. You can assign one index, several, or all of them.

Step 4: They Accept the Invitation

The invited person will see the shared indexes in their own Opensolr Dashboard. They can manage those indexes as if they owned them — edit configs, run queries, index data, create backups — everything.

Requirements

Common Use Cases

Agency Managing Client Search

You are an agency building a website for a client. Create the Opensolr Index under your account, set up search, then invite the client as a team member so they can manage their own index going forward.

Development Team Collaboration

Your development team needs access to the staging and production Opensolr Indexes. Invite each developer, and they get instant access through their own dashboards — no credential sharing.

Handoff to Operations

Once development is done, invite the ops team to manage monitoring, backups, and scaling. The dev team can be removed if they no longer need access.

Freelancer Access

Working with a freelancer who needs to configure Solr? Invite them, let them do their work, then remove their access when the project is complete.
